This is how Hungarians save on meals when they are going to the beach
6 out of ten compatriots usually travel by taking their own food with them, while half of the respondents pack snacks for going to the beach.
When it comes to travel, women and teenagers are considered to be more prepared than the average: almost two-thirds of women and three-quarters of those under 20 take snacks with them – in the latter, family care certainly plays a significant role. Homemade sandwiches, store-bought salty snacks and fruit are the three most common foods taken to the beach, but a third of respondents also take home-made salty crackers with them.
The fact that many people do not go to the beach without food is mainly due to financial reasons: three-quarters of the respondents take their own food with them because it is cheaper than buying it at a local buffet. This can also be seen in the demographic characteristics of the answers: graduates in a better financial situation use this opportunity less often, while young people in a worse financial situation use this opportunity more often. It is interesting that a third of young people choose this option because they consider it tastier than the dishes that can be bought in beach buffets – among other things, this is evident from the results of Rama’s latest national representative research
