This is the easiest way to help the needy at Christmas
From Friday to Sunday, the biggest food collection campaign of the year will take place organized by the Magyar Élélmiszerbank Egyesület. A total of 6,500 volunteers will collect the donations in 356 stores in 153 settlements of the country. The Food Bank asks everyone to put a non-perishable food item of their choice for the needy in their shopping basket, which can be dropped off at the collection points next to the cash registers after payment.
Budapest, November 14, 2023 – Every year since 2006, the Food Bank has been organizing its Christmas non-perishable food collection campaign, which over the years has grown into one of the biggest domestic celebrations of solidarity and togetherness. Two years ago, for example, they closed the three-day program with a record result of 347,000 kilos, and they were able to help 70,000 needy people during the holidays.
Last year, charity was made more difficult by a number of circumstances, which was also reflected in the amount of donations: a third less donations were received. Fortunately, this year, those who are looking for the simplest way to help the needy during the holidays, i.e. direct food donation, will no longer have to face price caps and quantity limits. In addition to cans, baby food and packages of bacon sugar, they can again easily offer flour and cooking oil.
