This is what the housing situation of middle-aged people looks like
The family home is the most popular choice for middle-aged people, with 58 percent of them living in such properties, according to the third-quarter data of the K&H Sure Future Survey. The proportion of panels is 16 percent, and that of condominium apartments is 10 percent. 64 percent of those in their thirties own their own home, while the proportion is almost 80 percent for those in their fifties. The fact that the Hungarian housing market may pick up speed in the coming period – partly thanks to the new state housing support measures – provides an opportunity to present the housing situation.
Residential property is the most significant asset for the majority of the Hungarian population, including middle-aged people. Of course, the question is what these properties are like. The K&H Sure Future Survey, which has been presenting the housing situation of the 30-59 age group for years, and this time based on third-quarter data, answers this question. All this is interesting now because the housing market may switch to a higher gear in 2025, partly as a result of government steps. For example, the possibility of tax-free use of voluntary pension fund savings for housing purposes, which, according to the forecast of the experts of the Hungarian National Bank, predicts greater demand in the housing market. In addition, some of the government securities, which represent a stock of several thousand billion forints, will have an interest rate reversal next year: due to the significant decrease in yields, investments in the housing market may also become more attractive. This will have an impact on both the housing loan and home insurance markets.
