Promising startup projects at István Széchenyi University
Beverage vending machine maintenance using software, an application recommending recipes based on the contents of the fridge, an online platform connecting micro-influenza agents with advertisers – these were the student startup projects considered the most promising by the professional jury in the third year of the Hungarian Startup University Program (HSUP) run at Széchenyi István University, which ended in June. The national initiative introduces hundreds of students in Győr to the world of innovative businesses, and the best ones also receive professional support to turn their ideas into real businesses.
In Hungary, the Hungarian Startup University brings together the nationwide, centrally supported and organized startup program across universities, which supports the development of the Hungarian knowledge economy under the supervision of the Express Innovation Agency. The goal is to create as many internationally successful Hungarian enterprises as possible, which market ideas conceived at universities in the form of spinoff enterprises, thereby increasing the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy. The number one pillar of this is the cross-university HSUP program, which started its third season this year at István Széchenyi University.
The program ended with the institutional demo day, when student teams presented their business ideas. There were some where the prototype of the planned product had already been completed, while others presented the structure of their application. The professional committee gave the green light to 15 of the more than 300 ideas originally submitted, of which three were finally awarded by the jury after the presentations.
