Very poor apricot crops are expected
It is possible that we can harvest the poorest apricot crop of the past 10 -15 years this year – Apáti Ferenc, Vice President of the FruitVeB Hungarian Vegetables and Fruit Intermediate Organization told Világgazdaság.
The fruits vary between 10,000 and 40,000 tonnes depending on the vintage, this year it will surely be at the bottom of this strip. The low yield is due to spring frost.
The early varieties were almost completely “executed” by the minus 20 to 24 degrees cold, experienced on the night of 1 March, when the apricot buds began to swell. (vg.hu)
