GMO corn seed found

Several sources of Népszabadság have confirmed that GM seed has been planted in the ground this year, despite the modified controls and administrative practices, that aimed to avoid last year’s howler. 1500 hectares of corn had to be destroyed.

According to the first informations, 144 hectares of corn had to be destroyed near Martonvásár, due to GMO contamination in the last days of June. After a brief investigation it was revealed that the problem is more widespread: over the country a total of 1,500 hecatres of corn was detroyed at the end of June. (Népszabadság Online, Kurucz Árpád)
