ALDI will be on Sziget again this year
ALDI Hungary is now set to be at one of Europe’s most popular festivals for the ninth time. This year, the department store chain is preparing to serve visitors with a pop-up store and a larger Grill Zone than ever before. The ALDI store will be waiting for festival-goers in the area next to the boathouse in 2026, and will provide the opportunity to shop at store prices as usual. Grill products purchased in the store will once again be grilled on site for free.
ALDI debuted at Sziget in 2016 with a pop-up store, which served festival-goers with a show bakery, fresh vegetables and fruits, and refrigerated products. Since then, the discount chain has been present at one of Europe’s most popular festivals every time. In addition to the shopping opportunity, a Grill Zone was later created, where products purchased in the store were prepared for visitors free of charge. This year, between August 11 and 15, citizens can once again expect to be able to shop at the usual store prices within the festival area, while they can choose from a variety of grilled dishes in the Grill Zone. Drinks will also be available in the ALDI store – similarly to the entire festival area – at a uniform price set by Sziget.
A well-known location, an even larger Grill Zone
At this year’s Sziget, the ALDI store will once again open its doors next to the boathouse, and its Grill Zone – in response to the growing interest over the years – will be larger than ever: 20% more ovens and chefs compared to last year will ensure that everyone has access to affordable, freshly prepared meals from 11 a.m. onwards.
In addition to the usual fast checkouts, more than 40 employees will be working in the store to ensure uninterrupted service. The pop-up store will offer the most sought-after foods by festival-goers: freshly baked pastries, daily delivered vegetables and fruits, cold cuts, dairy products, refreshing drinks, snacks, and basic hygiene products.
“We are very pleased that the tradition will not be broken this year, and hundreds of thousands can once again have fun at Sziget. ALDI is happy to join the festival line-up this time as well, and will provide budget-friendly shopping and dining opportunities at the usual store prices and with fast service from day zero throughout the entire duration of the event”
– said Bernhard Haider, national managing director of ALDI Hungary Élelmiszer Bt.
“ALDI arrived at Sziget before I retired from active organization, but even in that short time it became clear that they were presenting a popular, gap-filling service at the festival,” said Károly Gerendai, who took over the management of Sziget again this year. “I have been to the festival every time as a visitor in recent years, and I have seen the huge interest in ALDI’s – ever-developing – services. ALDI complements Sziget’s uniquely diverse gastronomic offering on an international level with an offering that has now become an integral part of the festival city and significantly contributes to the complex guest experience that is one of Sziget’s most important trademarks,” added the Sziget founder.
