This year, these companies won the Effekt 2030 award
This year’s competition for the Effekt 2030 – Community Investments award was characterized by a prestigious field and close competition. The recognition was once again awarded to the companies applying for their exemplary, innovative and effective environmental and social investment programs based on the decision of the professional jury and the general public. The award ceremony took place at the annual conference of the Effekteam Association held on October 6.
This year, large companies, SMEs and startups operating on the domestic market, as well as the corporate foundations established by them, could also apply for the Effekt 2030 – Community Investments award. The professional recognition can be earned every year by those corporate responsibility and sustainability programs that result in measurable and demonstrable positive changes from the point of view of society and the environment. In accordance with tradition, the submitted applications were judged by a five-member professional jury. The members of the board were: Áron Horváth, head of sustainability, CBRE Hungary; Réka Matolay PhD, associate professor, Corvinus University of Budapest; Éda Pogány, regional sustainability and communication manager, Syngenta; Krisztina Schubauer HR, Marketing and Communications Executive Director, EXIM Hungary; and Gyula Szabó, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Ökoszolgálat Alápítvány. The jury made its decision on the winners and shortlisted applications for each category after a long professional discussion. The general public could also vote for the latter and choose the program with the audience award. – The fact that more entries were received this year than ever before indicates the strengthening of the social responsibility and sustainability efforts of the domestic corporate sector. There are companies that return regularly, but the range of applicants also expands with new ones every year, as the professional competition gives participants the opportunity to evaluate, rethink and further develop their own community investments in a prestigious field. We are happy to see that more and more integrated and complex programs are being created, which increasingly meet the triple criteria system of community-impact-future – said Dr. Klára Molnár, director and professional leader of the Effekteam Association, which founded the award.
The competition in the Economy of the Future category was particularly tight this year
FoxPost Zrt., which is in the SME category, entered for the first time, but its application has already won the recognition of the jury and the general public. Although the FOX Green program ultimately missed out on the audience award, in addition to the Effekt 2030 award, it also earned a special Business Model award. The primary goal of the highly successful program is to reduce the environmental impact and air pollution associated with package logistics services by minimizing the amount of greenhouse gases and waste generated during the company’s operations.
In the field of large companies, there was a tie in this category, so in the end there was a shared first place
One of the winners was Samsung Electronics Magyar Zrt.’s application called Solutions for tomorrow. During the joint challenge of Samsung and EdisonKids, the students were able to develop their ideas that could make the world better in an exciting future planning workflow. In addition to student teams, the program also offered teachers the opportunity for professional development and creative joint work. The other award winner in the category was SPAR Magyarország Kereskedelmi Kft. SPAR for the society – Hungaricool by SPAR and Regional Treasures programs. Hungaricool by SPAR and Régiók Kincsei play a decisive role in the company’s sustainability initiatives. The programs include the support of innovative, marketable products that treat sustainability as a priority, purchasing from Hungarian farmers, purchasing domestic products and raw materials, preferring short delivery routes, increasing the proportion of green/sustainable products in the assortment, and educating trade partners and consumers. METRO Kereskedelmi Kft.’s METRO Sustainable Gastronomy Program took second place, and Master Good Kft.’s application entitled Implementation of Sustainable Circular Farming came in third.
The winner of the Green balance category was the tender of Auchan Magyarország Kft
The plastic-free Auchanért program is integral to the company’s consistent sustainability strategy. In 2019, the supermarket chain was the first to appear on the market with a recycled cardboard shopping box, and since then it has been continuously introducing new environmentally friendly packaging materials, and is also trying to promote environmentally conscious shopping and the reduction of plastic use among customers. Budapest Airport Zrt.’s Greenairport program took second place, while BKM Budapesti Közművek Nonprofit Zrt.’s Attitude Formation and Environmental Education Program finished third.
In the Everyone’s Society category, the Vodafone Hungary Foundation won the Effekt 2030 award with its application entitled Vodafone Voluntary Community
Corporate volunteering has been an integral part of the company’s social responsibility program for many years. The company provides all employees with 4 working days a year for volunteering, which they can use in volunteer programs organized and offered by the Vodafone Foundation. Based on current social needs and employee needs, volunteer opportunities are constantly being developed, so the offer from which employees can choose is becoming more and more diversified and diverse. NI Hungary Kft.’s WATCH – Women at Tech program took second place in the category, and UniCredit Bank Hungary Zrt.
This year, Effekteam awarded in separate categories those corporate measures and creative solutions that promote the well-being, employment and integration of the victims and refugees of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The association donated the entire amount received from the registration fee of the tenders submitted in special categories to the Carpathian Foundation’s Emergency Aid Fund, in order to contribute to the financing of initiatives aimed at dealing with the crisis caused by the war and the refugee crisis.
The winner of the Responsible support category was the Vodafone Hungary Foundation’s application
The purpose of the Vodafone Russian-Ukrainian Crisis Management Program is to provide real and quick assistance to those forced to flee due to the Russian-Ukrainian war. Vodafone Hungary as a whole and the Vodafone Hungary Foundation actively participated in the development and implementation of the program. Second place was shared by Auchan Magyarország Kft. and Tesco-GLOBAL Áruházak Zrt. The cooperation of the former company Auchan and the Hungarian Red Cross applied for the award with a program called During the Ukrainian Crisis, while the latter entered the professional competition with an initiative called “Together is more effective – providing assistance to those affected by the Ukrainian war”. Yettel Magyarország Zrt.’s project Helping Ukrainian refugees by Yettel took third place.
A shared first place was awarded in the Exemplary Employer category
OTP Bank Plc. received an award for its initiative to support employees fleeing the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, and CIB Bank for its Solidarity Knows No Borders program. From the very beginning, OTP Bank helped subsidiary bank employees and their relatives fleeing the war. They provided the arriving families with housing and food, took care of their physical and mental health, helped them stay in touch, bought medicines, food and clothes for them, and also organized a fundraiser. CIB Bank also immediately undertook solidarity with the employees of the Ukrainian sister bank and their families. They provided emergency financial support through three Hungarian humanitarian organizations, launched a donation mobile application, took a role in welcoming and caring for those fleeing the war, and provided them with work and study opportunities.
The general public will be able to vote on a total of 21 applications selected by the professional jury from September 19-30. could vote between SPAR Magyarország Kereskedelmi Kft.’s application entitled SPAR for society – Hungaricool by SPAR and Treasures of Regions won the approval of the vast majority of voters, which earned it this year’s audience award. The awardees are the COMMUNITY held on October 6 by the Effekteam Association. EFFECT. FUTURE. – The future operation of domestic companies, challenges and innovations in the light of ESG aspects received the accolades.
