This year, EU's grain production will decrease
According to the new forecast of Coceral which is the Organisation of Producers, it is expected that 285.27 million tons of grain will be harvested this year in the European Union, after last year's 310.19 million tonnes.
According to the new forecasts the EU farmers will harvest a total of 140.88 million tonnes of wheat. A total of 59.73 million tonnes are expected in the case of barley which is a decrease compared to last year's 65.63 million tonnes. Maize expected to be 56.15 million tonnes, slightly less then the 56.37 million tons estimated in spring, but much worse than last year's 60.50 million tonnes. Much less maize will be harvest in Hungary then expected; 7.00 million tons instead of 8.06 million tonnes – and in Romania (7.00 million tonnes instead of 7.75 million tonnes), however better French harvest can compensate losses – reports Privátbankár.hu.
