This year, global semiconductor sales are expected to grow by 11.2 percent to $700.9 billion, according to the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS), a statistical institute that tracks international semiconductor trade.
Demand is being driven by artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure and advanced consumer electronics.
Last year, growth was higher, at 19.7 percent.
According to the report’s authors, the most significant growth this year will be in the Americas, at 18 percent, and in the Asia-Pacific region, at 9.8 percent.
In contrast, growth will be much smaller in Europe, at 3.4 percent, and even more modest in Japan, at just 0.6 percent.
By 2026, WSTS expects global sales to increase by 8.5 percent to $760.7 billion.
