“A company does not reach 100 years of age solely by relying on tradition”

– says Dr. Nikolas Stihl, Chairman of the STIHL Advisory Board. “Of course, you have to know your roots, but at the same time you have to remain open to new chapters.” This idea accompanies the company’s history and is closely linked to the creed of the founder, Andreas Stihl, who believed from the beginning: the goal is to make working in and with nature easier.

35 years in Hungary: many years of experience with us

Following the STIHL philosophy, the past is not only emphasized, but also the present and the future. The 35-year presence in Hungary not only creates a stable foundation for this, but also creates new opportunities. One result of this is that from January 1, 2027, Andreas Stihl Kereskedelmi Kft., headquartered in Hungary, and Managing Director Gábor Bakon will also be responsible for the Croatian and Slovenian markets. The anniversary year is thus both about looking back and looking forward: about new tasks, increased responsibility and fresh professional challenges.

Never-heard stories from 100 years

One ​​of the central elements of the anniversary year is a special event dedicated to this occasion created a website that collects the stories of STIHL’s 100 years. It is not a simple chronological list, but rather personal moments, human destinies and decisions that have shaped the company for a century. Many stories are being told to the public for the first time and hold surprises even for long-time STIHL employees.

STIHL’s anniversary year is not without celebrations. The STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championship will be held in Stuttgart, STIHL’s hometown, on October 30th and 31st, 2026, where the best sports lumberjacks will compete in a variety of events.
