Let us assume that perfect hygiene in a rest room is a basic requirement. All additional features have a PR value, because people tend to talk about these. In rest rooms, there is not much room for diversity regarding basic equipment. However, other features which might create a special impression in guests, do make a difference. Rolled up wool towels are becoming the standard in first class restaurants in Hungary as well, but “first aid” kits for ladies are still regarded as a sign of special attention. There are also ideas like playing music or providing TV sets in rest rooms, which cause people to talk about the place. Another creative idea is the use of cabin doors which are transparent as long as the cabin is not occupied, but turn opaque when occupied. In some places, rest rooms provide a sense of adventure. For example, mirrors have been replaced by windows in a German club, so that girls and boys find themselves looking at each other, when looking in the mirror. In the US, there are clubs with rest rooms for ladies which are equipped with a bar and a muscular bartender. In a Chicago club, some drinks are served exclusively in the rest room, making it an ideal place for ladies to get themselves together when dates go wrong. In some places, it is allowed to smoke in the rest room. Naturally, advertisements are also present in rest rooms, displayed over and even inside pissoirs.
