Twenty-five thousand liters of counterfeit pálinka were seized in Szabolcs by the NAV
The financial inspectors of the National Tax and Customs Office (NAV) found more than twenty-five thousand liters of illegally produced brandy on the property of a family business in the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, the authority’s press officer told MTI on Thursday.
Béla Simon wrote in his statement that the investigators checked the properties of the operator of the local distillery and his family members based on criminal information. They found HUF 150 million worth of liquor hidden under the concrete floors of the outbuildings in several thousand-liter containers, in a car parked in a yard, and in plastic bottles of various sizes.
The staff of the NAV found that various short drinks of unknown composition, produced illegally, were flavored with artificial brandy aromas, the alcohol content of the mixtures was fifty percent, the press officer explained.
