Thirteen out of twenty-four bakeries were found by NAV to have made a serious mistake in issuing receipts
Twenty-four bakeries were checked on the basis of traffic data from online cash registers, and inspectors from the Fejér county of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) found a serious failure to issue receipts in thirteen stores.
The customs office announced on its Facebook page on Thursday that at some of the inspected shops and bakeries there are remarkably few cash registers after 4 p.m., despite the fact that in many cases these businesses are open until 8 or 9 p.m. The inspectors thus examined in particular those stores that close late, but in the afternoon and evening hours, the issuing of receipts is minimal.
The tax inspectors of the on-site inspection area, together with several partner authorities, launched a coordinated inspection campaign based on the cash register data. In none of the bakeries was the seller announced, and in the other stores the cash in the cash register differed significantly from the income that was entered in the cash register.
Based on the data and the experience of the inspectors, it was proven that these businesses did not always use the cash register in the late afternoon hours. In these stores, it was also a typical practice that the representative of the operator took the cash collected during the day from the cash register without any kind of documentation. In such cases, the audit naturally showed the lack of cash in the cash register.
