The Blue Flag beach certification is twenty years old, and the Balaton beaches performed well
This year, 43 Balaton beaches took part in the competition, all of which performed well and achieved the four- or five-star Blue Wave Flag certification – it was announced at the award ceremony of the 20th edition of the competition announced by the Balaton Association (BSZ) on Wednesday in Csopak.
Speaking to MTI, Gábor Lombár, the president of the association, emphasized that the result reflects the significant government support given to the development of the Balaton beaches in recent years. The beach operators hope that there will be a continuation, he added.
Krisztina Fabacsovicsné Kovács, the secretary of the association, said that the booth visits took place over five days from June 19. The association’s partner Nők a Balatonért Egyesület, the Balaton Tourism Association, the Balaton Circle, the Balaton Upland National Park and the staff of the Hungarian Tourist Agency took part in the judging.
