Travel fever did not subside even after Easter
The travel fever did not subside even after Easter, with accommodations welcoming 36 percent more guests between April 17-27 compared to last year’s spring break, the Minister of National Economy announced on his Facebook page on Saturday.
Márton Nagy wrote: Hungarian families with children also set off in droves to relax with domestic travel in the second half of the school holidays.
According to the minister’s post, the most popular rural destination for domestic travelers was Balatonfüred, followed by Eger, Siófok and Hajdúszoboszló in a tie, while the popular spa town of Hévíz came in third place.
During the spring vacation, 338 thousand of our compatriots stayed at Hungarian accommodations, and the revived domestic travel spirit is characterized by the fact that 27 percent more Hungarians set off on trips than during last year’s spring break – added the Minister of National Economy.
51 percent of the one and a half million guest nights generated nationwide were provided by 326 thousand foreign travelers – wrote Márton Nagy.
According to the Minister, the tourism boom has also revitalized the turnover of domestic accommodations and catering establishments.
