The 120-year old pálpusztai cheese is applying for the Hungaricum title
The pálpusztai cheese celebrates its 120th birthday this year. The old cheese specialty can still compete with the world-famous Dutch and French products on the domestic market.
The “odor” feature of the unique spicy flavor cheese attract some, and repel others. Forró Tibor, leader of Brevico Kft. believes that it might be easier to tolerate the side effects of the cheese, if the consumer knows the soft, fatty cheese is one of the few foods which contain live floras. Live floras support the work of the intestinal flora and help in the the reduction of pathogenic bacterias, so consequently live floras are important ingredients of a healthy diet. Live floras are missing from most of the heat-treated, preserved food products although our digestive system would need them. (Kruppa Géza, MTI-Press)
