HPAI vaccine bank at the service of epidemic prevention
The National Food Chain Safety Office established an HPAI vaccine bank in cooperation with Ceva-Phylaxia Zrt. The highly pathogenic avian influenza virus vaccine produced by Ceva has been granted a temporary emergency authorization. After that, an agreement was reached that the vaccine production company will maintain a stock of the vaccine, from which it can provide vaccine to the authority if necessary.
A suitable vaccine against the HPAI (highly pathogenic avian influenza) bird flu virus has become available. Thanks to this, Nébih is prepared for emergency vaccinations that may become necessary during future epidemic(s).
If in the future this official measure is justified by the current epidemic situation, the cooperation of the vaccine bank will provide quick and effective help
According to the agreement of the parties, the initial quantity of the vaccine is 300,000 doses. During the bird flu epidemic that started last November in our country, the authority documented a total of 76 confirmed positive cases until the beginning of February 2024, in which ten counties were affected. In the mentioned period, more than 1.6 million animals have been eradicated in connection with the epidemic. The disease has essentially become permanent nowadays. Its regular appearance causes extremely significant economic damage. That is why a group of experts in our country is investigating the possibility of vaccination as a potentially effective and necessary additional tool for epidemic prevention.
