Social hostels, which are based on a community experience and offer not only accommodation but also organized programs and social spaces, are becoming increasingly popular in European tourism.

According to a 2025 survey by Hostelworld, 58 percent of travelers consider it important to meet people while traveling, compared to 43 percent previously. According to Phill Burgess, marketing manager at St Christopher’s Inns, young people are now looking for connections, not just cities.
