He warned that 67 percent of pigs are raised on 1.5 percent of livestock farms, so there is a risk that the current 5 percent drop is up to 75 percent if the disease spreads to larger economies. “If we are not decisive enough, we will soon be isolated within the EU, which would cause unpredictable damage to Croatian pig breeding,” he said.

He said that a Croatian army is being conducted to disinfect infected or suspicious colonies, and the technical units also help to sleep and transport pigs. African swine fever is a viral disease against which there is no vaccine and causes great losses in the pig and the economy. There is no danger to other animal species.
