In Croatia, price restrictions on certain basic foodstuffs have come into effect
Following the latest package of measures of the Croatian government, which was developed to alleviate the crisis caused by the rise in the cost of living, price restrictions on certain basic foodstuffs came into force at midnight, the Croatian internet news portal Index.hr announced on Monday. The affected products will be provided with a separate label, so they will be easily recognizable.
The price cap affects 30 goods, mostly food. In the case of sunflower oil, milk, flour, sugar, whole chicken and minced pork, the previous price restrictions adopted in March will remain in force.
Among the new products, milk chocolate, yogurt, Gouda cheese, rice, spaghetti pasta, eggs, as well as some meat products, as well as potatoes, carrots and beans will be cheaper. But they also limited the prices of toilet paper, shower gel, toothpaste, diapers and pads. The value of the entire basket will now be 24 euros cheaper.
Last week, the Zagreb government also held talks with representatives of the largest Croatian retail chains, some of which promised to restore the prices of another 300 to 1,000 products to the level of December 31 last year by the end of the year.
