ASF also appears in wild boars near the border in Croatia
African swine fever (ASF) virus has also been detected in samples taken from wild boars near the outbreaks of domestic pigs in Osijek-Baranja County, Croatia. The infected animals were killed near the settlements of Valpovo (Valpó) and Jagodnjak (Kácsfalu), close to the Hungarian-Croatian border.

The new cases were identified by the local authority near previous outbreaks of domestic pigs. The fact that the disease is already present in the wild boar population near the border in Croatia suggests that the virus load in the region is high. This has further increased the risk of domestic wild boars living near the Croatian border becoming infected with the ASF virus. The Hungarian animal health authority is using all means at its disposal to prevent the spread of the disease. At the same time, Nébih asks for the responsible participation of those affected (e.g. hunters, livestock keepers) and all citizens in the fight against the epidemic. For this, it is essential to fully comply with biosecurity and the measures ordered by the authorities.
