Home delivery may become more expensive this year
In the 3rd quarter of 2017 prices were growing rapidly for postal and courier services in Hungary, by nearly 10 percent. According to Ádám Bengyel, the CEO of Hungary’s No.1 parcel vending machine company Foxpost Zrt., 2018 might bring further increase in parcel delivery prices, perhaps by as much as 15 percent. He added that one of the reasons for this is the lack of workforce in the sector, for instance delivery companies need drivers badly.
Although online retail sales are growing by two-digit numbers, delivery services can’t keep up the pace. This may lead to more people picking up parcels from vending machines and consumers buying more items at the same time – in the future retailers are likely to offer free home delivery only above a certain sum spent. //
