How has Hungarians’ attitude towards AI changed in 2025?
The 2025 AI Readiness Index, commissioned by Publicis Groupe Hungary and prepared by PwC Hungary, debuted at this year’s AI Summit. The results of the research, which was conducted on online shoppers, were presented by Jakab Greifenstein, Publicis Groupe Hungary’s performance media director, and Ákos Kelemen, PwC Hungary’s expert.
The online representative survey covering the entire population revealed how Hungarians’ attitudes towards artificial intelligence have changed over the course of a year, what they use it for most, and how the average person views the impact of AI on society.
In August 2024, Publicis Groupe Hungary first measured the AI Readiness Index on a ten-point scale, which quantifies the domestic population’s knowledge of AI, its impact on their everyday lives, and its level of use. Last year’s AI Readiness study by Publicis Groupe Hungary and PwC found that Hungarians’ technological readiness is lagging behind the international average: at that time, the Hungarian index only hit 3.9 out of 10.
However, this year’s survey paints a different picture. Thanks to the rapid spread of artificial intelligence, the domestic AI readiness level has increased to 4.44 in one year, which can be considered a significant jump.
But what does this mean in practice?
This year, 83% of Hungarian internet users surveyed knew what artificial intelligence was, and twice as many said they use AI platforms on a daily basis compared to last year: the proportion of regular users increased from 26% to 42%. Interestingly, the survey found that 24% of retirees, Baby Boomers and Veterans use AI in their everyday lives. The most well-known tool is still ChatGPT, followed by Gemini, then Copilot – Gemini’s popularity has increased compared to last year, as it took third place last year.
