HNT: wine production may be less than average this year
It is estimated that the wine production in 2012 will not reach 2.5 million hectoliters, which represents a smaller quantity than medium – said Horváth Csaba, Secretary-General of the National Council of Wine Communities (HNT) on Wednesday in Budapest, at the awards ceremony of the 33rd National Wine Competition.
About one million hectolitre less wine will be transferred to the cellars this year than the usual average, due to the winter and spring frost damages – he added.
Horváth Csaba announced that final estimate of the crop this year has not started yet, because the flowering of vines has just begun, but the cold days are expected to significantly impact on the grape harvest, so the expected volume of wine as well. (MTI)
