Hygienic, multiple layer packaging from plastics
Plastics are the most commonly used packaging material for food, accounting for 50 per cent of all packaging materials in Hungary, in terms of volume. Plastics are used in three areas. The largest among these is plastic packaging foils, which account for over half of the total production. The popularity of single and multiple layer packaging foils has been growing continuously in the food sector for years. Hok-Plastic Kft located in Mórahalom, is one of the winners in the market, as they have identified new market requirements in time and adapted their technology and production to the new needs. Their current production capacity is 1,000-1,500 tonnes per year. Their product range includes waste bags, cooling and insulated bags, and shopping bags as well. They also produce small quantities of a industrial packaging foils. According to Csaba Horváth, managing director, plastic packaging is required for practically all products today. Quality packaging materials are generally thicker and comply with current environmental regulations, which call for the use of a special additive to ensure decomposition. The price of this additive has begun to drop, owing to wider-scale use. As a result on new legislation in effect since January, demand for decomposing shopping bags is increasing dynamically. Hok-Plastic Kft. makes decomposing plastic bags in all sizes. Waste from the production process is fully recycled. Plastic waste bags are available in standard sizes. One of the innovations introduced by Hok-Plastic this year is separate bags in a roll, which do not have to be torn from the roll. Their other main product line is insulated bags for food in several sizes.
