Hygiene problems at a wellness hotel, NAV drained the pool water
The National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) had to drain the pool of a wellness hotel that failed to eliminate the problems revealed during the government office’s inspection despite the request.
In a statement sent to MTI on Wednesday, the authority wrote: the wellness hotel, where the government office’s inspection revealed deficiencies that were not visible to the naked eye, did not comply with either basic hygiene standards or chemical safety standards, and imposed a fine of several million forints on the operator and ordered him to immediately close the wellness department.
It was reported that the hotel had already changed its name due to negative reviews on a major accommodation portal, but it still did not comply with health regulations.
Guests complained only about the most obvious deficiencies, not even suspecting the great risk of infection they were exposed to during their vacation.
Since the hotel operator did not comply with the authorities’ obligations, the tax authorities were tasked with forcing the cessation of the health-hazardous activity.
The company was unable to prove that it had complied with basic hygiene regulations even after being asked to do so by the Tax Authority, so the Tax Authority decided to drain the pool water. The accommodation facility cannot receive guests until the deficiencies identified by the authorities are eliminated – they wrote.
