Report from the 12th International Day of Egg
Within poultry, egg production became the loser of the accession, the Hungarian egg production decreased by 20 percent. In the first eight months of 2009, 615 thousand less pullets breeded, their total number is only 2,265 thousand.
The decrease in purchasing power cuts back demand. The Central Statistical Office indicates the problems with steadily declining datas. While in 2005, even 280 pieces, in 2008 only 261 pieces was the consumption per capita per year.
Last year, the producer price of eggs increased by 9.3 percent in a year, then after Easter decreased by 45 percent, while consumer prices remained unchanged.
