Joining quality systems helps to recognize domestic products
In addition to increasing consumer confidence, participation in quality schemes also brings market benefits. To support this, a call for proposals has been launched to help farmer groups establish EU quality schemes. The 1.6 billion forint non-refundable grant will contribute to meeting quality requirements and to the costs of recognition.
Products produced under quality schemes have a unique characteristic linked to a geographical area or are made using a traditional production method and are recognised in accordance with European Union regulations. Participation in quality schemes promotes the production of higher value-added products, which can strengthen sales and the market position of products. The aim of the call is to support the increase in the competitiveness of farms, the improvement of the position of farmers in the value chain and to strengthen cooperation between the parties participating in the quality scheme.
The support can be used for activities related to the establishment and operation of producer cooperation, for initiating the recognition of designations of origin and geographical indications, or for the further development of the quality system. According to the call for proposals, the maximum amount of support that can be requested for these activities is HUF 30 million.
Applications for support can be submitted between October 2, 2025 and May 6, 2026. All related documents of the call for proposals can be found on the thematic website of the Ministry of Agriculture, at https://kap.gov.hu/.
