The number of visitors at the Oktoberfest in Munich is over six million
The number of visitors rose over six million (to the usual level) at the world’s largest beer festival, the Oktoberfest in Munich on Tuesday evening.
According to the organizers’ preliminary estimates, 6.2 million people visited the Oktoberfest, which is an increase of more than half a million compared to last year when the number of visitors dropped to 5.6 million (a 1.5 decade nadir) due to terrorist threat and bad weather.
The new security concept proved, this year’s Oktoberfest was “very safe,” said Marcus da Gloria Martins, spokesman for the Munich Police Service, according to the Bavarian public service media company Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR). (MTI)
