This year, the hungarikum competition was huge success
The popularity of the Hungarikum tender is unbroken, thanks to this year’s announcement by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Hungarikum Committee, 271 tenders from the HUF 683 million fund will receive support.
509 applications were received for the call published in April 2024, the demand was about three times the amount available. In the call for tenders, 445 million forints were originally available, but in view of the great interest, the Ministry of Agriculture provided additional resources of 238 million forints for the collection and promotion of national values and Hungarian goods. As a result, a total of 271 successful applicants will receive HUF 683 million in support this year.
As in the 13 Hungarian tenders announced so far, the first target area was the most popular this year as well, the focus of which was the strengthening of local identity and the sense of identity of the people living in the given settlements. With the tender, it is possible to organize events, create electronic publications, websites, photo series, and films, which – in addition to Hungarian culture and outstanding national values - are meant to promote local (city, county) national values. It is also possible to incorporate symbols characteristic of the locality into the image of the settlement, and to make them visible: design and construction of uniform street signs, house numbers, mailboxes. In the case of events, preference was given to tenders that included the presentation of the traditions and customs included in the treasure trove (the feast, the carnival, the election of a king at Pentecost).
