Both Auchan Hungary Hypermarket chain and its French parent company increased its turnover in 2008. The company's own branded products can be purchased from autumn on the domestic market.

Auchan Hungary Ltd. increased its turnover with 6 percent last year, comnpared to  2007. There is an increase in the number of customers too – stated Jean-Paul Filliat Chief Executive Officer of Auchan Hungary Ltd. In the 11 Hungarian stores of the French-based Hypermarket chain, a turnover of 244 billion HUF was realized in 2008, while more than 32 million bill has been blocked, which means an increase of 1.6 percent. There was an increase in the number of sold products, approaching 780 million. Due to the crisis the customers of the Auchan stores prefer the smaller packaged discount priced goods and buy less at once. In the food sector it is easier to bring good results, because the non-food sector is more affected by the crisis. The Auchan group results were stable in 2008 with a net turnover of 39.5 billion euros, which was a 7.5 percent increase compared to the previous year. Auchan opened 60 new hypermarkets in 2008 and the end of the year a total of 468 units were operating in 12 countries, with nearly 180 thousand employees. The Chief Executive Officer also reported that from September Auchan's own-branded products are expected on the Hungarian market – reports Origo.
