The retail turnover of meat products increased by 6 percent
According to Nielsen market research company, the retail value of meat products increased by 6 percent between July 2008 and June 2009 compared to the similar previous period.
The size of the market exceeded the annual 205 billion HUF. Shop sales exceeded 165 thousand tonnes. Overall, the retail trade of meat products became more concentrated. Thirty-two percent of sales volume occures in hypermarkets. The square meter segment index of supermarkets and discounts with 401-2500 square meters, increased to 33 from 31. The share of 51-200 square meters and 50 square meters or smaller shops has been decreased to 6 and 17 percent.
