Pilsen, the European Capital of Culture opens with three days of celebrations
Pilsen (Plzen), launches its program in in mid-January with large-scale three-day celebrations. Pilsen (Plzen), situated in West Bohemia, together with the Belgian city of Mons bear the European Capital of Culture title in 2015. Under the program, more than 600 events will take place in Pilsen by the end of the year – the organizers told at a press conference in Prague on Tuesday.
“The three-day program will start on January 16, on Friday afternoon. The opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, while the opening programs will continue on Sunday.” – Mirka Reifová, spokeswoman of the organizing committee, told to reporters. Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to the festive weekend. (Kokes János, MTI)
