Mollie launches in three new markets
Dutch payments fintech Mollie is launching in Hungary, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. Online sellers in these countries can now use the company’s payment solutions and local support. It wants to simplify money management for businesses.
Mollie is a payment service provider from the Netherlands. It handles payment transactions for online stores, by offering a large collection of online payment methods. It also offers integrations with ecommerce software solutions, which makes implementing the platform in online stores more simple.
Last year, Mollie announced that it was expanding to Italy. Now it has announced a launch in three new European markets. Sellers in these countries can access a single platform for payment processing, reporting and fraud protection.
Potential in these three markets
According to Mollie, Slovenian and Hungarian online sellers are often held back by legacy payment tools. In the Czech Republic, the company sees potential for improvement in terms of payment methods.
Mollie wants to offer payment and finance solutions that are tailored to the local market. These include Apple Pay, Google Pay, credit and debit cards and well-known buy now, pay later solutions like Klarna, among others.
Local support teams
In the three markets, Mollie is currently assembling a local team, which will be able to give support with their local expertise. The platform offers a local onboarding process, and is suitable for large enterprises as well as micro-, small- and medium-sized businesses.
“With our expansions into Hungary, Slovenia and the Czech Republic, we are supporting local entrepreneurs in realizing their ambitions, both within and beyond their national borders. These markets have enormous potential, and with our accessible platform, range of local payment methods and strong support, we offer exactly what is needed to realize that potential. This expansion is a key step towards our goal of making money management effortless for every business in Europe”, says Koen Köppen, CEO.
250,000 customers
According to Mollie, it currently helps more than 250,000 businesses in Europe. It already has offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, France, the United Kingdom and Portugal. The company wants to expand into more markets in the short term, but it is not clear where and when it will be launching next.
