Three tons of cake is the star of Dresden’s Stollenfest
A huge traditional Stollen is the main attraction of the usual annual celebration called Stollenfest in Dresden.
The cake, which weighed three tons and was almost one metre high, formed the centrepiece of the German city's traditional Christmas celebrations.
The Stollen, which may prove to be the world's biggest Christmas cake, had to be carried to the Christmas market on a horse-drawn carriage.
Now in its 19th year, the Dresdner Stollenfest is extremely popular, much to the delight of Henry Mueller, a member of the city's bakers' guild: “When we started to organise the 'Stollenfest, we could never have dreamed of such a celebration.” – The Daily Telegraph online edition writes. (MTI)
