Cheese prices hit three-year low: ALDI cuts prices again
ALDI has more good news and lower prices for Hungarian customers. The price drop in the dairy market in Western Europe continues, so the discount chain is reducing the prices of 13 popular cheeses by an average of more than 11% from today.
From the United Kingdom, through France and Austria to Germany, the wholesale price of cheeses has decreased noticeably, so ALDI has achieved lower purchase prices. ALDI Hungary is passing on the achieved discounts to its customers – in accordance with its previous practice. From November 3, the supermarket chain is reducing the prices of 13 popular cheese types, including Milsani and Hofburger, by an average of more than 11%. Customers can get the most popular international cheeses, such as Edam, Emmental, Maasdam and Camembert, at a lower price. The permanent price reduction also applies to different packaging, so block, grated, sliced and cubed cheeses are all available at lower prices, and seven are lactose-free, so those affected by food intolerance can also buy them cheaper. The new prices are characterized by the fact that 7 of the 13 cheeses are available at the 2022 price level and 2 at the 2023 price level in ALDI refrigerated counters from today, meaning that these cheeses have not been this cheap for three years.
The largest price reduction affects the Milsani Edam 350 gram block cheese, which costs more than 24% less than before. The prices of the various grated and sliced versions, 8 of the 13 products, are also reduced by double digits, so consumers can buy from a wide range, for every taste and every meal occasion, at a lower price.
“At ALDI, it is a basic principle that when purchasing prices fall, customers have more money in their wallets than in their tills,” said Bernhard Haider, National Managing Director of ALDI Hungary. “This is what happened again: we quickly reflected the price reductions in the Western European cheese market in our domestic consumer prices, so that Hungarian families and households can access high-quality cheeses at even more favorable prices. We believe that with this step we will also contribute to further reducing inflation.”
The price reduction is valid in all 187 ALDI stores in Hungary from November 3, 2025, so customers across the country can experience that ALDI continues to be the first to react to international market movements whenever possible.
