Happy Periods: Rossmann also supported Artemis’ fight against menstrual poverty
In April, women play the main role in Budapest’s new favorite “living room”, the Kollab by Mammut community space on the 3rd floor of the Mammut I Shopping Center. As the opening of the program series, the organizer ARTEMIS, a women’s tech startup, and the Mammut Shopping Center, in cooperation with Rossmann, among others, are announcing a fundraising campaign entitled HAPPY PERIODS between April 4 and 30, with the aim of helping women living in menstrual poverty. In addition, round table discussions, workshops and exhibitions await those interested in the topics of innovations affecting women, women’s well-being, body parts “below the belt” and menstruation, which is often considered taboo.
Menstrual poverty, like menstruation itself, is still a taboo subject to this day. That is why initiatives that promote honest, open dialogue and appropriate information related to the topic are important. According to estimates, up to a third of women living in Hungary may be affected by menstrual poverty, i.e. they do not have access to appropriate hygiene products, which can lead to missing school, work and health risks, among other things. In addition, products belonging to this category are subject to the highest VAT in Hungary.
The mission of the startup ARTEMIS, which has developed smart clothes aimed at reducing menstrual pain, is to draw attention to the problem of menstrual poverty, which is why it launched a fundraising campaign called HAPPY PERIODS together with the Mammut Shopping Center. As part of the special initiative, hygiene products will be sold from April 4 to 30. in Kollab by Mammut, they are collected for the Hungarian Red Cross and the EMMA Association, which deliver them to those in need. The sponsors of the initiative are Mammut Shopping Center and Kollab by Mammut, the Rossmann drug store chain, and LiB Store, Hungary’s first women’s store.
