According to the leader of World Touring Organisation the number of international travelling in the first two months of this year decreased by 7.7 percent on an annual basis. A total of 117 million travellers hit the road.

The main reason for the downturn is the world economic crisis,  and the fears about the spread of influenza. Therefore it would be difficult to held the WTO’s forecast about only 2 percent decrease of the world's tourism. According to the World Touring Organisation noone knows what will be the effect of the economic crisis, and when it will end. In the first two months of the year in Central and South America there was no dowturn in tourism, but the tourism of Mexico will drop back due to the flu. In Europe, international tourism during January and February was 8.4 percent lower than at the beginning of 2008. In South Asia, the decline reached 14.6 percent – reports ProfitLine.hu.
