The test results illustrating the condition of Hungarian soils will soon be available to everyone
The results of the soil protection laboratory tests carried out in Hungary will soon be available to all interested parties. The data will greatly support research related to one of our most important natural resources, the soil, and will also help monitor changes in the state of our domestic soils. Recording the location of the sampling points will be mandatory from now on. At the same time, compliance with the GDPR conditions provides protection for all taxpayers, they cannot be disadvantaged in connection with the provision of data.

In accordance with the decree that entered into force on May 19, 2024, the laboratory performing soil protection tests is obliged to provide the National Soil Database with data on the test results performed on soils. The purpose of the data collection is to consolidate the results of the approximately 200,000 test measurements carried out in Hungary. The scope of the data is defined in Annex 5 of the decree. It is important to emphasize that data collection helps research activities and serves to monitor and predict the condition of soils. The data is handled in compliance with the GDPR conditions, thus the taxpayer cannot suffer any disadvantages due to the provision of data.
Nébih draws attention to an innovation: it is mandatory to record the location of the sampling points
The location data is loaded according to the data recorded by the person taking the sample, for which it is sufficient to read the complete GPS coordinates from a location-determining application that can be downloaded for free on any smartphone. The laboratory performing soil protection tests must provide the data within 15 days from the finalization of the report of results or the test report, which can be done through the National Soil Database. The database is accessible via the Nébih customer portal.
