Food industry renewal about to start
István Jakab, deputy speaker of the Hungarian Parliament told at a farmers’ forum in Székesfehérvár that a support scheme is about to be launched for the renewal of Hungary’s food industry. He explained that 20 companies are responsible for realising 50 percent of the food industry’s total export sales revenue, but only 5 them are fully Hungarian-owned. The new programme aims at establishing food processing companies owned by farmers. Applicants can get funding up to HUF 500 million.
