This year’s melon season may end soon
The domestic melon season may end prematurely this year. Although the heatwave favored consumption, the heat caused a serious headache for the producers. However, consumers still do not have to fear a shortage, according to FruitVeb, the supply of the domestic market is still ensured.
Although we are only in the second half of July, according to experts, this year’s melon season has already reached its peak, and after that the supply will slowly but surely decrease. However, buyers do not have to fear a shortage this year either, domestic markets are amply supplied, and it is conceivable that Hungarian melons will be exported in the coming weeks as well.
The report of the Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Association, FruitVeb, revealed that the extreme heat wave has a great influence on the development of the season, and as a result, items scheduled for later will also ripen earlier. Due to the heat, the peak period of the season was significantly shortened, the melons ripened, and the extremely hot weather is also a huge challenge for the farmers.
