METRO Kereskedelmi Kft. has recalled fishery products due to microbiological non-compliance, as the presence of Listeria monocytogenes bacteria was detected in the products it distributes during an official inspection – the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) told MTI on Monday.

According to the information, the recall applies to all 100 and 500 gram Metro Chef smoked salmon, 200 and 1000 gram Aro smoked salmon, 1 kilogram Aro frozen smoked salmon, 200 gram garlic shrimp in oil, and 100 gram smoked tuna fillet products on the market.

The products are manufactured by Ocean Fish S.R.L.

The measures taken by the company, as well as the further fate of the recalled products The authority is monitoring it, the statement said.

The authority warned that anyone who has purchased the recalled products and still has them should not consume them.

Listeria bacteria are a bacteria commonly present in our environment, which often occurs in food, but only causes illness when the number of bacteria is higher. In healthy people, consuming food contaminated with Listeria often does not cause any symptoms.

However, in weakened bodies (infants, pregnant women, people over seventy years of age, and people with weak immune systems), there is a greater risk of developing the disease. Listeriosis is often difficult to distinguish from other foodborne infections based on its general symptoms – fever, vomiting, diarrhea, headache. Complications include meningitis and blood poisoning.
