Bird flu has reappeared in Hajdú-Bihar County
The laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) has detected the presence of bird flu virus in Hajdú-Bihar County. The eradication of the affected goose herd has been completed, and the epidemiological investigation is ongoing. Nébih draws attention to the fact that epidemic control discipline cannot be relaxed even in areas currently free of bird flu.

The increased mortality rate in the 3,831 goose herd in the Komádi settlement of Hajdú-Bihar County raised the suspicion of the disease among the livestock keepers. The Nébih laboratory confirmed the H5N1 subtype of the virus in the dead animals. The affected herd has been eradicated. A 3 km radius protection zone has been designated around the farm, and a 10 km radius surveillance (observation) zone has been established. Nébih draws the attention of animal keepers to the fact that even where the zones established due to avian influenza have been lifted, epidemic control discipline must not be relaxed. Avian influenza is still present in wild birds, so everything must be done to avoid direct or indirect contact of poultry with wild birds.
