With the arrival of good weather, demand for micromobility devices on eMAG has surged: almost half of sales were made up of traditional bicycles, with customers mostly looking for mountain bikes and city models priced around 100,000 forints in recent weeks. Electric scooters are on the second step of the podium, with customers preferring more robust, higher-performance models. Safety accessories, especially child safety equipment and bicycle and scooter helmets, were also among the most popular products at the spring season opening.
The first warmer weeks of spring brought the season of micromobility devices on eMAG: in the past month, most people ordered traditional bicycles online.
Bicycles accounted for almost half of the devices sold within the category, while the second most popular microvehicle was the electric scooter – with a third of sales. Electric-assisted bicycles and traditional, foot-powered scooters accounted for roughly ten percent of sales in the category.

Entry-level mountain bikes and touring pedelecs at the top

This spring, the most popular mountain bikes with 26-29-inch wheels, typically closer to the entry-level, and city bikes with practical baskets that ensure comfortable getting on and off, are enjoying the greatest popularity at eMAG, with a typical buyer choosing a model around 90-100 thousand forints.

More affordable pedelecs with electric motors are also sought after at eMAG, with Asian and German brands typically its products equipped with 250 and 500 watt motors are the most popular. The touring version and the compact, foldable e-bikes are the most sought-after, for which domestic buyers pay prices of up to 300 thousand forints.

They are no longer looking for the simplest types of e-scooters

Unlike bicycles, about three-quarters of the scooters sold at eMAG at the beginning of spring were electrically powered, and only a quarter were traditional, mainly foldable types.

Among e-scooters, the most sought-after were made by KuKirin, Xiaomi and Segway, among these models equipped with motors of up to 800-1000 watts. Their power may not necessarily be needed for racing, but for example for climbing hills in mountainous areas or for optimal travel for heavier users.
Safety and comfort are also determining factors in purchasing decisions: customers clearly prefer a more robust structure, larger, up to ten-inch, balloonier wheels, which make riding safer and more comfortable even in bumpier environments.

Most people order bicycle and scooter helmets

As more and more people using micromobility devices appear on the roads, safety equipment has become a primary concern for eMAG customers. In the case of cycling, according to the currently effective Road Traffic Regulations, a visibility vest must be worn when driving outside built-up areas at night or in limited visibility conditions, and if you want to ride at a speed of up to 50 kilometers per hour instead of 40 kilometers per hour in a built-up area, you can do so wearing a helmet.
In the case of e-scooters, the currently effective Road Traffic Regulations do not yet contain any specific regulations regarding them, although certain high-performance models are considered mopeds that can be ridden with a helmet. At the same time, dr. In January, pediatric surgeon Róbert Kőnig, in response to the suggestion of the Hungarian Pediatric Traumatology Society, suggested that even lower-powered scooters should be used with protective equipment.
At the beginning of spring, most people from eMAG used helmets, knee pads and Most people ordered a safety kit that included elbow pads, wrist guards, and a helmet. In addition, many orders were received for various safety helmets, including adult sizes and designs, such as those with plexiglass face shields or chin guards, and those that even support lighting or wireless communication.
