A hacker attack thwarted the auctioning of the world’s largest private whiskey collection
The auctioning of the second large lot of the world’s largest private whiskey collection had to be postponed indefinitely because of a hacking attack against the Perth-based Whiskey Auctioneers auction house.
The auction of the 3,900 bottles collection will be held in two parts online, with the first part taking place in February, with 1,949 bottles sold for around 3.2 million pounds.
The second part would have been staged between April 10 and 20.
Much of the collection is homemade malt Scotch whiskey. The collection is being sold from the legacy of American businessman Richard Gooding, who passed away in 2014, with some pieces expected to sell for as much as a million pounds. (MTI)
