If farmers do not pay attention to this, farmland can become barren
All over the world this summer, the heat reached record highs. We are facing the driest period since 1976, and due to climate change, this was probably our last coolest summer. In addition to adverse conditions, we face ongoing concerns about food security, wildlife habitats and biodiversity, and maintaining a healthy soil system is now more challenging than ever.

Abroad, too, they have started seriously dealing with climate change and its concomitants, and they are trying to find a solution with research. Based on the research of Jim Harris, professor of environmental technology at Cranfield University, the maintenance and care of soil life is extremely important in the current situation. But what does the term “soil health” mean and why is it so important to us? According to a new study by Cranfield and the University of Nottingham (J.A. Harris’s “A new theory of soil health” is published in the European Journal of Soil Science), we need to change the way we think and look at soil in order to better understand how it is possible to effectively manage this resource of ours, thereby protecting soil life.
