Inflation accelerated in Spain in March
In Spain, the annual growth of consumer prices accelerated to 3.2 percent in March, following the 2.8 percent in February, in accordance with the previously announced data, according to the final data published by the Spanish Statistical Office (Instituto Nacional de Estadística – INE) on Friday.
Among other things, the acceleration of annual inflation was also contributed by the fact that housing and public utilities, transport services, fuels, and recreational and cultural services became increasingly expensive in an annual comparison.
On a monthly basis, as previously announced, consumer prices rose by 0.8 percent in March after the 0.4 percent increase in February.
Annual core inflation excluding food and energy prices decreased to 3.3 percent, the lowest since February 2022, in March from 3.5 percent in February.
