Inflation accelerated in Italy in March
In Italy, instead of the 1.3 percent reported on the basis of the preliminary estimate, consumer prices rose by 1.2 percent year-on-year in March, following the 0.8 percent increase in February, the Italian statistical office, Istat, announced on Tuesday as final data.
Based on Istat data, consumer prices in Italy did not change on a monthly basis in March, instead of the 0.1 percent increase previously reported, after the previous month’s 0.1 percent increase. According to Istat’s announcement, the acceleration of the annual price increase was mainly due to the slowing down of the prices of regulated energy products and non-regulated energy products. The price reduction of regulated energy products slowed from 18.4 percent in February to 13.8 percent, while that of non-regulated energy products slowed from 17.2 percent to 10.3 percent in March.
