Fast food on airplanes – the promotion of KFC and Japan Airlines
Beginning this holiday season and for a short time only, Japan Airlines will be serving KFC aboard select flights to the U.S. and Europe. A press release announces flights “from Narita to New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, London, Paris and Frankfurt will be [serving] KFC's Original Recipe two-piece chicken meal during the second meal service.” They're calling the promotion, which lasts from December 1st to February 28th, Air Kentucky Fried Chicken.
The meal is made up of chicken breast filet, a drumstick, some bread, and lettuce and coleslaw “so customers can create a sandwich.” The L.A. Times reports that “Japan is a voracious consumer of American fast food, often with a twist…KFCs in Japan are currently offering a special American-style Christmas menu complete with cake and champagne.”
